Glandless Pump

” Glandless pump:- are in extensive use in the fields of Pollution Control, Fliteration, Trasferring Corrosive Chemicals, Slurries, Plating Bars, Sewage, Waste Water Treatment Plant etc. “

The vertical glandless pump is a centrifugal pump that lacks (removes) a gland and/or mechanical seal system, as the names suggest. Gland or Seal failure is a key problem in all process industries. Problems with maintenance for all practical purposes, the vertical glandless pump is known as the zero leakage pump. As a result, any poisonous and corrosive liquids can be handled safely. Only the vertical position is allowed for installation. It is designed with vertical suction and side delivery.

The vertical glandless pump operates in the same way as any other centrifugal pump. The design of the pump is such liquid that should have leaked enters the annular space where the impeller drive shaft enters the upper rotor casing, aided by an Auxilliary impeller (Expeller), and flows out through the overflow into the suction tank. The liquid’s passage forms a closed loop, eliminating the need for any glands or seals.

The Vertical Glandless Pump is placed outside the suction tank, which is not submerged, but is made of solid escalated construction to resist corrosion. The glandless pump is vertically designed. With the requisite flow and head / pressure, liquid from the suction line travels through the impeller to the discharge line. While excess liquid enters the rear plate cover €” and is directed back to the mothertank via overflow outlets. When handling caustic and dangerous compounds, glandless pumps provide outstanding performance. The pump is built such that liquid that would typically try to pass through the point where the impeller drive shaft joins the backplate (stuffing box) is redirected and returned to the suction tank as a controlled flow. The Vertical Glandless Pump, which is mounted outside the suction tank and is not submerged, eliminates mechanical seal, internal bearing, and stuffing box concerns.

The vertical glandless pump has a straightforward design and is available in a variety of corrosion- and erosion-resistant materials. Another benefit of the vertical pump is that it saves important floor space and is self-draining to some extent.

The vertical glandless pump has the following limitations

  • The maximum liquid level must not rise above the centerline of the pump, which is situated on the side of the tank from which the liquid is pumped out.
  • The pump’s suction should always be negative.

Vertical Glandless Pumps are equipment that runs continuously and require no maintenance. These pumps are available in both metallic and non-metallic materials.
